When the healer needs healing--

There is a healer in all of us. We have families, children and friends that we love and give to, often times, more than we have. We have businesses to run, people that need a ear and a heart and animals we give extra time and energy. There is an Earth and a world that needs us. Sometimes we don't know when to stop giving until we are exhausted. The exhaustion can be misidentified as depression. We think we should push through it and keep going.

Sometimes the healer in all of us needs healing. Hopefully, before you drop, you have been taking care of you. With the intensity of this summer, many of us missed the signals and are feeling overwhelmed, drained and even a little let down. Some have even moved from emotional symptoms to physical symptoms. It may be time to stop and be quiet and listen to the messages that our bodies, emotional bodies and minds are giving us. It may be time to heal the healer.

We all know that we are only really great when we are centered and filled up. It is ridiculous to think that we can hide our exhaustion from others. There may be a few. Most of those, because they simply don't want to see it. The ones that do see our truth can be confused by our behavior and they should be. We are not practicing what we preach. When we don't take care of ourselves, we are not loving ourselves. We are not teaching our children what we want them to learn nor are we setting a good example for the world. We're out of balance and throwing our world out of balance.

Please know that there is no judgment here. This summer has moved faster than light with little time to think or take a full breath. We come out of this particular configuration on September 9th and it will take a few weeks for the planet and everything to find equilibrium. We will never match the energy of the change as it is not humanly possible. Our cellular structure simply can't do it. We can, however, find our harmonic balance within the every vacillating energy of the Universe.

Each of us will find our own best ways to do this. I offer you ideas from my students and myself. It starts with quiet -- daily quiet. Turn off the TV, radio and computer and listen to your own heart. Take your morning coffee or evening tea and sit in the garden without talking. Be still enough to hear your heartbeat. From there, you will naturally begin to find a harmonic rhythm with the Earth.

Take a walk without your partner, dog(s), children, friends or cell phone. Allow your feet to find a gentle pace of healing upon the Earth. It only takes about 10 minutes. You will notice your breathing change. Your heart rate will slow and become steady. Your shoulders may drop from your ears. Your body will loosen up and your mind will stop racing. By the way, you'll be more fun to be with by the time you get home.

You may find that you release and rebalance in water. You may get the same results from swimming that some do from walking. If I had my way, I would be walking at water's edge on the beach. The water cools my body, heart, mind and soul. Then, the sun warms them. It is a perfect healing. Also, it is harder to walk fast in sand so it lends itself naturally to slowing the pace and quieting the mind.

It is time to heal your healer. Love yourself enough to stop for awhile. Don't answer the phone when it rings; the caller will leave a message. Take time. You need not necessarily rush to your next responsibility. Hum along to the song on the radio, MP3 player or ipod and don't listen to the news right now; it will be repeated many times today. Say hello to your body, your mind, your emotions and your soul. Hear what they have to say. They will thank and love you and you may smile in the quiet of the moment.
