Time is that quality of nature which keeps events from happening all at once. Lately it doesn't seem to be working.

I have been hearing this more and more from all of you. And, now that Mercury had gone retrograde joining three other planets, it seems more real than ever. Time speeds up and slows down simultaneously. We spin and everything seems to happen at once. I have heard and felt that there is too much to do and not enough time or energy. So, how do we handle this time warping without going crazi(er)?
Think of it like walking on a tour boat. There is a different sense of stability and balance. When we relax and give into the motion of the boat with the water, we find our equilibrium. If we fight it, we can be thrown overboard and may even experience seasickness. Finding balance with time is similar experience only on the mental and soul levels. When we relax into time and its relationship with the Universe and Earth, we can experience stability, continuity and even comfort.
We have all heard that time is an illusion. We like this illusion. It works for us. On this planet, or in what my kids call the pizza reality, it is a wonderful tool that helps us keep track of our lives and it allows us many conveniences like meeting up in the same place or being able to talk about life in some sort of order without sounding like Abbot and Costello. It is time to allow time to become Zen, again.
The more we let go and allow, the easier it gets. I will admit that I have been grumbling that time is different here in South Carolina than it is in Colorado. Someone reminded me that I had the same complaint when I moved from California to Colorado. She is right! I did! So, once again I am adjusting to the local time. It seems that, in addition to an overall warping of time, the experience of time in various locations differs. I am sure the experience of time also alters with age, health, focus and a million other variables. And that brings us back to relax and allow.
Just how do we allow?
- Always start with breathing. That, in and of itself, helps with everything I can think of. You can literally breathe yourself back into alignment with a little practice. (It helps not to be multitasking. See below.)
- Next, set your intention of what you want to experience. The intention or mantra might sound something like, “I am in perfect alignment with the Universe and the Planet.” Ultimately, that is what we are all seeking to experience. When we allow ourselves to be in that alignment, things can shift and change and we can move through chaos without stress or harm to our psyches or bodies.
- Remember that thing called a Sense-of-Humor? Use it. I am amazed how many people get upset at things they cannot control. That, by itself, makes me laugh! Anger is a tool which, when used properly, can help bring about change. Spewing it about on things outside one’s sphere for effect is useless and diminishes its value. Humor heals, releases stress, changes focus and energy and allows us to feel better.

Be practical and simplify. Right now, with everything going on, allow yourself enough pizza reality time to do what you need to get done. Multitasking and having great expectations with a long to do list are no longer effective or productive.
All this is affecting sleep, mood and sanity! You may not be on the island, but you can take advantage of a little island attitude right now: Slow down, be present, and enjoy where you are and what is happening. You will remember more of your life, have a lot more fun and time will come in balance.
There is a reason that we live where we live and vacation where we do. Part of what were get from those locations is the gift of time. We can find a rhythm and a simpatico with the energy we call time. It can serve us when we allow. Don’t fight it… come into alignment and life will make more sense and be a lot more fun.
