He who does not get fun and enjoyment out of every day — needs to reorganize his life. |
|
I have been in a most un-joyful mood, of late, due to cleaning up massive amounts of karma. Looking for a little levity, I started reading through miscellaneous quotes and this one made me nod knowingly and laugh. Growth can, if taken too seriously, lead one to forget about the delightfulness of life. I have had my head down and been plowing forward in a not exceptionally light or playful way. I have heard similar laments from many a client and colleague.
What do you say let's get over it and go play? Let's get back to one of the most important things in life - joy. How do we do that? Well, I read the quote that made me laugh. I would say that's a good start. I am about to leave to join a friend for yummy dinner and spirited conversation. OK, I think I'm getting back on track.
What about those times where there is no one around, no one seems to be answering the phone, and the cats won't tell any jokes? Sometimes it is up to us to find our own fun. It may be by watching a silly movie. (There certainly are enough of them on TV.) Or, it may be going on the Internet and watching You Tube. (That is always good for a laugh.) A good book is distracting and can bring comfort and pleasure. Don't forget about getting lost in great music. Playing in the snow is a blast. Oh yeah, it's summer.
Are there any inside (self) answers? The best one I can think of is daydreaming. That can be a lot of fun and fantasy is much better than reality — sometimes. Oh, what about recreating the outcome of the situation that is a drag? That's good. This is all very nice and still feels a little lonely. Hmmm——
Come to think of it, perhaps it isn't about finding the answers and changing by your self. Perhaps it is really receiving blessing, inspiration and fun from interacting with the world in some way. We have been talking about receiving over the past several months. When we actually take in the laugher, the smell of the flowers, the power of the raging river, the love of the music, the adventure of a movie, we are healing through fun (there might be process and it becomes secondary to the experience). Joy is about relationship — our relationship to the world (which includes ourselves).
Enjoyment is rightful relationship. Peace is rightful relationship. Passion is rightful relationship. Organize your life to have rightful relationship. Dump the things that don't work and make space for receiving love through laughter and having fun every day. If you're not careful, that might just grow into every hour of every day. You could even enjoy going to work and to the market and - who knows! You might just find yourself smiling at nothing at all.
Thanks. This has been fun and healing!
