Questions from men, part 1
|
Some of you may have wondered where I have been. The rest of you probably didn’t notice that I have been gone for a while because you yourself have been so busy dealing with your own growth. This has been a time of great discovery into our authenticity. We are on a dynamic learning curve that brings both considerable challenge and equally vital healing. A few months ago I sent out a letter to several different men with whom I had had interesting discussions on Spirituality and intuition. Separately, we deliberated the affect of said topics on interpersonal relationships. I asked them to offer up questions that were still rolling around in their minds.
The queries they posed are complex, not easily answered and important to all of us. I have often sat and stared at the words, smiled at the lessons they were bringing me and will now do my best to give thoughtful and short answers. This, after all, is the quick hit ezine and not a blog. Today, I will focus on the questions of balance in the masculine energy and how it relates to the feminine. In the next ezine, I will address the broader issues.
Gentlemen, thank you for all the questions you sent, not just the ones that are published. You have given me insight, not only to into yourselves, but into the issues and concerns that face modern men on a Spiritual path.
Men are typically conditioned for achievement in the outer realms; work, sports, family - all related to the hero myth and achievement or success. We are shown what to DO and yet many of us men lack in leadership in how to BE in order to accomplish what we desire. How do we come from a place of Being? — GW, California.
From a Spiritual perspective, Being comes before doing. We are a very physically active nation and give greater kudos to the action and the success of that action. Little is taught about the inner preparation for success. However, a period of silence everyday can give you the time you need to connect with yourself and with Spirit to be more grounded or centered. Take a walk alone in nature and without your cell phone. Instead of reading the Journal on your commute; sit, stare out the window and let your mind run out of chatter. When your mind finally stops working, being starts happening. When that connection is in place, everything comes more easily and naturally. Action becomes the expression of Being.
It is true that most of us have to work at Being. It is very un-Zen. However, since the majority of us were not raised with daily meditation, we will start with the work of learning how to connect and move into Being.
As consciousness has evolved, do you think gender differences have become less or more significant?—
AA, California
I will give you the yes and no answer. Understanding, appreciating and respecting our differences has brought a greater comfort and respect to our communication and relationships. In that way, our differences are less significant because they become a more accepted and expected part of our daily lives. It takes some focus and practice to bring our selves into this higher level of consciousness. It is well worth the effort. When we have authentic appreciation of our unique strengths and vulnerabilities, we can embrace the dance of the masculine and feminine more gracefully. We utilize each other’s gifts and talents to greater mutual benefit. In other words, we can step out of the long, useless battle between the genders and engage in a creative journey that brings so much more to humanity than separation ever could.
How can men bring more feminine energy into their being so that we can become more balanced, and in turn help to balance the greater male consciousness?—
JM, Canada.
We all have both masculine and feminine energies within us. They increase and decrease depending on what we are doing or thinking. Let’s go back to basics for a moment. Female energy is the creative energy: inclusive, nurturing and holistic. Male energy is linear in nature. It is the manifesting force and is protective or exclusive. They work together and must work together – in an ever-dynamic balance. The Divine Feminine rises from silence. She gathers information and energy from all resources and then engages the Divine Masculine to manifest through free will.
Bringing up the Divine Feminine in all of us requires enough self-love to be still, listen to our hearts, and consider all aspects of a situation. Then and only then is She able to make the best decision and offer the highest information for the Divine Masculine.
The energy that women so appreciate in men is the same energy or attitude that makes men good fathers, husbands and friends. It is inclusiveness. Being more balanced for all of us is a three-part process:
1. Recognize what is not working for your highest and best in every aspect of your life (not all at once, of course!)
2. In meditation or with a healer, bless and release the patterns and past lives that are anchoring those attitudes and patterns within you.
Consciously in meditation, ask for and breathe in the highest vibrations of light and love that you want to embody.
3.
Healing and growth are what we doing when we are living. Becoming more conscious is the journey of life. We can embrace the process or fight it. Either way, life happens and we grow. I wish you greater joy and comfort in growth.
As I said before, these are very brief answers. I do hope that they have given you some insight and inspiration.
Remember to celebrate you along with others this Valentine’s Day.
Love, blessing and joy to all of you!
Love and blessings for a joyful and healing New Year!
See you in the Bahamas! (Just kidding – I’m home having fun!)
